Pictures from My Trip to Tepic, Mexico

My last article was about my trip to Tepic, Mexico, and I did not include any pictures. Refresh your memory if you need to because this article is solely pictures and captions. I also put in breaks between sections but not between the days.

CBX

The Border; I actually took this picture on the way back since we
were all so tired by the time we got to the airport when we came there

The Tijuana Airport was renovating when we arrived. Also the seats felt like concrete.

This is the one and only baggage claim in the airport. The workers would
have to unload the luggage, put it on carts, and wheel the luggage to this area.

This is my team standing in front of the airport and a sign
saying, "Nayarit" which is the state of Mexico we were in.

A Catholic Church across the street from the hotel

A dry fountain in front of the hotel square

 Las Bendiciones

The village overlooks a cliff

This little girl is having fun with the jump-rope.
My team was wearing green shirts that day.

Chalking the concrete

This is the face-painting station. My friend, Leah, is looking at the camera.

Priscilla, one of our translators, taught the kids a song called "Habia un Sapo."
It's about a green frog who got cold while swimming in a river. So his wife told him,
"You have a friend in Jesus." Some of our team members got that song stuck in their
head the whole trip and kept singing it over and over again with their bad Spanish.
This is a Bible lesson being taught by Kevin

 Loma Alta
This village is probably called "Loma Alta" because we had to hike up a steep
mountain to get to it. Well, we only had to do so because one of the church
members accidently took us the wrong way which was the hard way.

This village had a volleyball net

More face-painting

Most of this village is dirt, but many of the guys on our team did not go to Las
Bendiciones to lay a concrete slab so this village could hold their meetings there.

The missionaries, Don and Janie Nellis, played
the accordian and sang hymns at the village.

The Sports Complex
The basketball court

The soccer field

The volleyball area
Those people playing basketball and siting in the rain are what I call the "Rain Squad."
What the picture doesn't show are the heavy rains and the gusts of wind. Of course, it's
only the Americans that are doing this.

The Park of the Falling Insects
(Not the Real Name)

One of the many playgrounds

A statue of Pancho Villa. I included this picture because it was
really interesting to learn about this historical figure and see his
statue in Mexico although we Americans had to capture him later.

The adults got to sit on the logs while the rest of us had to avoid all of the insects.

This was during a very hilarious retelling of the story of Joseph. Throughout the
days, the story got longer and longer until everyone was so tired of hearing the story.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We were not allowed to take any pictures of the children because this orphanage
works like America's foster care system. Many of the children's parents are in prison.
There were about eight children living at the orphanage when we were there. This is a
soccer game by the way.

We did a little shopping before going on to the next village.
All of these jewelry are beaded.

This is another village area

Ixtlan, Guadalajara

This is the center where we did skits and evangelism. Someone is open-air preaching.

This little kid and his sister (not in the picture) walked around singing. He reminds
of the kid in Coco (I did not watch the movie, so I don't know much about it).

Jala, Guadalajara
Oh, look. It's me.

This is everyone trying to guavas from the tree

The Church

The church's full name is Iglesia Biblica Bautista Misericordia
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Surprise Fiesta

The church spent three months hand-making this piƱata.

There was a girl vs guy stunt-off and dance-off. Of course, only
the Americans did things like this. The Mexicans weren't as crazy.

The Lake

Do you see the fish swimming around the algae-covered steps?

The ripples in the water are so pretty

From left to right: Don and Janie Nellis (the missionaries) and Erin
and Pastor Martine Garcia (the pastor and his wife from the church)

I hope you enjoyed all of those pictures. Can you believe there were fifty of them in all? No quotes or verses for the special articles, but check back next Monday for an article about my 11th grade subjects.
